Traditional Carne Asada Marinade

A timeless preparation of carne asada that infuses the meat with vibrant flavors, making it perfect for any cookout or family gathering.

Ingredients

1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup orange juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 lbs flank steak

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, and orange juice until combined.
2. Stir in minced garlic, jalapeño, chopped cilantro, cumin, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
3. Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag.
4. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated.
5. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
6. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
7. Remove flank steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
8. Grill steak for 5-7 minutes per side, until desired doneness is reached.
9. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Storage

Store leftover cooked steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, warm slices in a skillet over medium heat until heated through, or in the microwave at a medium setting for 1-2 minutes.
