Smoked Gouda Quiche Lorraine with Caramelized Onions

Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
1 cup smoked gouda cheese, shredded
1/2 cup caramelized onions
3 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.
3. Spread the caramelized onions over the prepared pie crust.
4. Sprinkle the cooked bacon and shredded smoked gouda evenly over the onions.
5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
6. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients in the pie crust.
7. Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
8. Allow the quiche to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Storage
Store leftover quiche in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place slices of quiche in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
