Traditional Spinach Tart

Delicious homemade spinach tart with a flaky crust and a savory custard filling. Perfect for brunch or a light dinner.

Ingredients

1 9-inch pie crust
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz fresh spinach, chopped
4 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk
1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan.
3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions until soft.
4. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
5. Stir in spinach and cook until wilted.
6. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
7. Spread spinach mixture over crust and sprinkle with Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.
8. Pour the egg mixture over the filling evenly.
9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden.
10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until heated through.
