Traditional Orange Cake

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
2 tablespoons orange zest
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
4. Stir in the orange juice and zest.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
7. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Storage

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.

Warm the cake slices in a preheated oven at 300°F for 5-10 minutes or microwave for 15-20 seconds.
