Traditional Mexican Avocado Dip

Ingredients

3 ripe avocados
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced onion
3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
2 roma tomatoes, diced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
2. Add lime juice and salt to the avocados, and mash until smooth with a fork or potato masher.
3. Stir in diced onion, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, and minced garlic.
4. Mix well and add cayenne pepper if desired, adjusting seasoning to taste.
5. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.

Storage

Store leftover guacamole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface to minimize browning.

Reheating

Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh and does not require reheating.
