Traditional Lemon Squares
Traditional Lemon Squares are a timeless dessert, featuring a buttery shortbread crust topped with a sweet and tangy lemon filling that delights the palate.

Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
Zest of 1 lemon
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
2. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup softened butter, and 1/4 cup sugar until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
3. Bake the crust for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and set aside.
4. In another bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. Stir in the lemon juice and zest until smooth.
5. Pour the lemon mixture over the baked crust and return to the oven.
6. Bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes until the filling is set.
7. Allow to cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar and cutting into squares.
Storage
Store the lemon squares in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Reheating
Lemon squares are best eaten cold. Reheat in a preheated oven at 300°F for 5-10 minutes if you prefer them warm.
