Ingredients

2 cups whole milk
3 large eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Ground nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
2. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
4. Gradually whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture, ensuring it is incorporated smoothly.
5. Pour the custard mixture into a baking dish or individual ramekins.
6. Place the baking dish or ramekins into a larger baking pan and pour hot water into the pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of the dish or ramekins.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
8. Remove from the oven and let cool. Refrigerate if desired before serving.
9. Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top before serving.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
