Traditional Country Cornbread

This Traditional Country Cornbread boasts a golden crust with a tender crumb, perfect for complementing hearty meals or enjoying with a pat of butter.

Ingredients

1 cup of cornmeal
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of whole milk
1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Allow to cool slightly before cutting and serving.

Storage

Store leftover cornbread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Reheating

To reheat, wrap the cornbread in aluminum foil and warm it in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes.
