Traditional Chicken Noodle Casserole

A comforting and savory chicken noodle casserole featuring tender chicken, hearty egg noodles, and a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
2 cups wide egg noodles, cooked and drained
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup sliced carrots
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent.
4. Stir in the cooked chicken, egg noodles, peas, and carrots.
5. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
6. Pour the soup mixture over the chicken and noodles, and stir until everything is well combined.
7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
8. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
9. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until heated through, or microwave individual portions for 2-3 minutes.
