Traditional Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

1 medium green cabbage, chopped
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 cup cooked white rice
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned; drain excess fat.
4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme.
5. Add the chopped cabbage and cooked rice; mix well.
6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2-3 minutes on medium heat, or until heated through. Alternatively, reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
