Traditional Braised Pepper Steak

This Traditional Braised Pepper Steak is rich with flavors of tender beef, bell peppers, and a savory sauce, creating a comforting and hearty main dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

2 lbs sirloin steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup beef broth
2 large green bell peppers, sliced
2 large red bell peppers, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Cut the sirloin steak into thin strips.
2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and beef broth.
3. Place the steak strips into the slow cooker and pour the soy sauce mixture over the top. Stir to coat the steak evenly.
4. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion over the steak.
5. Pour the can of diced tomatoes over the vegetables.
6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or until the steak is tender.
7. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
8. About 30 minutes before serving, stir the cornstarch slurry into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
9. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Storage

Store leftover pepper steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat the pepper steak gently on the stovetop over medium heat, or in the microwave, until heated through.
