Timeless Caramel Apples

Ingredients

4 medium Granny Smith apples
8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples, then insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
3. Stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk.
4. Cook while stirring constantly until the mixture reaches 245°F on a candy thermometer.
5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
6. Dip each apple into the hot caramel, allowing excess to drip off, and then roll in chopped pecans.
7. Place the apples on a greased baking sheet to cool and set.
8. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and drizzle over the cooled caramel apples for a decorative touch.
9. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.

Storage

Store caramel apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, allow the caramel apples to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
