Time-Honored Italian Meatballs

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup olive oil
1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and milk.
2. Mix gently until all ingredients are well blended.
3. Shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs.
4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
5. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
6. Transfer meatballs to a plate and drain excess oil from the skillet.
7. Pour marinara sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
8. Return meatballs to the skillet and cover them with sauce.
9. Simmer for 30 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
10. Serve hot with pasta or crusty bread.

Storage

Store cooked meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat meatballs in a covered skillet over medium heat until warmed through, about 10 minutes.
