Spicy Sausage and Spinach Baked Ziti

Ingredients

1 lb ziti pasta
1 lb spicy Italian sausage, casing removed
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
2 cups marinara sauce
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
4. Add the spicy Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned.
5. Stir in the red pepper flakes and fresh spinach leaves, cooking until the spinach is wilted.
6. Pour in the marinara sauce and heavy cream, stirring until well combined.
7. Add the cooked ziti pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
8. Transfer half of the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
9. Add the remaining pasta mixture, followed by the rest of the cheeses.
10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, microwave individual portions on medium power until warmed.
