Spiced Pear and Apple Cider

Ingredients

4 cups apple cider
2 cups pear juice
1 cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves
1 star anise
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 orange, sliced
1 pear, sliced
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. In a large pot, combine apple cider and pear juice.
2. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, brown sugar, and nutmeg to the pot.
3. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
4. Reduce heat to low and add orange and pear slices.
5. Simmer for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
7. Strain the cider to remove spices and fruit slices before serving in mugs.

Storage

Store leftover cider in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat gently on the stove over low heat until warm. Do not boil.
