Spiced Maple Brisket

Ingredients
3 lbs beef brisket
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
1 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beef broth
1/2 cup black coffee
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
2. In a small bowl, mix together maple syrup, olive oil, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
3. Rub the brisket all over with the spice mixture.
4. In a large oven-safe pot, heat a little olive oil over medium-high heat.
5. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 4 minutes per side.
6. Remove the brisket and set aside.
7. In the same pot, add onions and garlic, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
8. Place the brisket back in the pot and pour in beef broth and coffee.
9. Cover and transfer to the oven.
10. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and slices easily.
11. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain to serve.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 20 minutes or until warmed through.
