Smoky Maple Bourbon Beef Jerky

Ingredients

2 lbs beef sirloin
1/4 cup bourbon
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine bourbon, maple syrup, soy sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and sea salt to form a marinade.
3. Submerge the beef strips in the marinade, ensuring even coating, and refrigerate for at least 12 hours.
4. Preheat the oven to 175°F (80°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
5. Arrange the marinated beef strips on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours, flipping halfway through, until the jerky is dry and firm but still slightly pliable.
7. Allow the jerky to cool before storing.

Storage

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or refrigerate for up to 1 month.

Reheating

Reheat briefly in a low oven (150°F) for a few minutes if a warm snack is desired.
