Ingredients

2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add onion and garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and water.
4. Add sugar, dried basil, oregano, thyme, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
5. Bring sauce to a gentle simmer, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Remove from heat, stir in fresh parsley and basil.
7. Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
