Savory Herb Cabbage Casserole

A delightful twist on a classic, this Savory Herb Cabbage Casserole combines hearty cabbage with aromatic herbs and spices, making it a nutritious and flavorful dish perfect for any season.

Ingredients

1 medium cabbage (about 2 lbs)
1 lb ground turkey
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup carrots, shredded
2 cups marinara sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until soft.
4. Add ground turkey to the skillet, cook until browned.
5. Stir in shredded carrots, marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes.
6. In a large casserole dish, layer half of the cabbage, followed by the turkey mixture, and top with remaining cabbage.
7. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
8. Cover with foil and bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
10. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Storage

Allow to cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes or until heated through.
