Ingredients
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken stock
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Whisk in the flour, stirring continuously to form a smooth roux, about 2 minutes.
3. Gradually add the chicken stock, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
4. Stir in the heavy cream, continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
5. Add the chopped sage, thyme leaves, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving warm.
