Pineapple Teriyaki Burgers

Ingredients

1.5 lbs ground beef
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
4 pineapple slices, fresh or canned
4 burger buns
4 lettuce leaves
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter for grilling

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.
2. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
3. Grill the pineapple slices for about 2 minutes on each side until they are caramelized and have grill marks. Set aside.
4. Grill the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
5. During the last minute of cooking, brush the tops of the patties with teriyaki sauce.
6. Lightly butter the hamburger buns and briefly toast them on the grill until golden.
7. Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on each bun, adding a lettuce leaf, placing the burger patty, topping with the grilled pineapple slice, and adding red onion slices.
8. Drizzle additional teriyaki sauce over the pineapple if desired. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.

Storage

Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, warm in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until heated through.
