Old-Fashioned Butter Cake

Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Storage
Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place slices in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5-10 minutes or until warmed through.
