Nutella Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup Nutella
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Whipped cream, for topping
Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Crushed hazelnuts, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Stir occasionally until the mixture is warm.
2. Add the Nutella, cocoa powder, and sugar to the saucepan. Whisk continuously until the Nutella and cocoa powder are fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
3. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Continue to heat until the hot chocolate is steaming, but not boiling.
4. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, then top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and crushed hazelnuts. Serve immediately.

Storage

Store any leftover hot chocolate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheating

Reheat the hot chocolate on the stovetop over low heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through. Do not boil.
