Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup water

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and cayenne pepper.
3. Add the softened butter and shredded cheddar cheese to the dry ingredients.
4. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
5. Gradually add water, mixing until the dough comes together.
6. Roll the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
7. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
8. Cut into squares or desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
9. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
11. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.

Storage

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes to restore crispness.
