Hearty Homestyle Beef Patties

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp Dijon mustard

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
2. Mix well and shape into four equal-sized oval patties.
3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
4. Brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side until well-seared.
5. Remove patties from skillet and set aside.
6. In the same skillet, add beef broth, scraping up any browned bits, then stir in tomato paste and mustard.
7. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
8. Gradually add the slurry to the skillet, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
9. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning sauce over them.
10. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes until the patties are cooked through.
11. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Storage

Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a skillet over medium heat until heated through, or in a microwave at medium power for 2-3 minutes.
