Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sliced almonds for garnish

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until well combined.
4. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
5. Roll the dough into balls, about 1 inch in size, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
6. Press a few sliced almonds onto the top of each cookie.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
