Decadent Cocoa Icing

This rich and velvety homemade chocolate frosting is perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and any dessert needing a touch of chocolate bliss. Made with real butter and cocoa powder, it offers an authentic sweet and slightly bitter flavor profile.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter
3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth.
2. Gradually add in the confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder, beating continuously until well combined.
3. Slowly add the milk and vanilla extract, and beat at medium speed until the frosting is light and fluffy.
4. Add salt and mix until incorporated.
5. Adjust consistency with more milk if the frosting is too thick or more sugar if too thin.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Reheating

Bring the frosting to room temperature and stir vigorously before using.
