Classic Sloppy Joes

Bring back childhood memories with these hearty and savory sloppy joes. Made with a rich tomato-based sauce and served on soft buns, they're a surefire crowd-pleaser for any casual gathering or family dinner.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 hamburger buns

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 8 minutes.
2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
5. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns, then top with the other halves.
6. Serve hot and enjoy your classic sloppy joes.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a skillet over medium heat until warmed through, or microwave for 1-2 minutes.
