Classic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
3. Drain potatoes and return to pot.
4. Add butter and milk to the potatoes.
5. Use a potato masher to mash potatoes until smooth and creamy.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Serve immediately or keep warm until ready to serve.
Storage
Store leftover mashed potatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place mashed potatoes in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. Add a splash of milk if needed to restore creamy consistency.
