Classic Broccoli Casserole

A timeless favorite, this broccoli casserole combines fresh broccoli, creamy cheese sauce, and a crunchy topping, making it an ideal side dish for family dinners.

Ingredients

2 pounds fresh broccoli, chopped
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup crushed butter crackers
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
2. Steam the broccoli in a large pot for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender. Drain and set aside.
3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until thickened.
5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
6. Combine the cooked broccoli with the cheese sauce, then transfer to the prepared baking dish.
7. Top with crushed butter crackers evenly over the casserole.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
