Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients
1 cup rolled oats
2 cups water
1 cup diced apple (preferably Granny Smith)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil over medium-high heat.
2. Stir in the oats, diced apple, cinnamon, and salt.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the apples are soft.
4. Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup.
5. Divide into bowls and top with walnuts if desired. Serve warm.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, add a splash of water or milk and microwave on high for 1-2 minutes or until heated through, stirring halfway.
