Inspired by the classic Irish coffee, this variation brings a nutty twist to the traditional recipe, creating a rich and aromatic experience.
1 cup freshly brewed espresso
1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
1/2 oz hazelnut liqueur
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Grated nutmeg for garnish
1. Brew one cup of strong espresso and pour it into a heatproof serving glass.
2. Add the brown sugar to the espresso and stir until completely dissolved.
3. Stir in the Irish whiskey and hazelnut liqueur into the sweetened espresso.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk the heavy cream with vanilla extract until it forms soft peaks.
5. Gently float the whipped cream over the back of a spoon onto the coffee mixture.
6. Sprinkle a small amount of grated nutmeg on top for garnish. Serve immediately.
Best enjoyed fresh. Store any remaining drink components separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
To reheat, warm the coffee components separately over low heat. Do not reheat the whipped cream. Assemble just before serving.
