Vintage Apple Pie Bars

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. In a bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt; cut in 1 cup cold butter until crumbly.
3. Press mixture into prepared dish and bake for 15 minutes.
4. In another bowl, combine apples, 1/2 cup brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tbsp flour.
5. Spread apple mixture over baked crust.
6. For topping, mix oats, walnuts, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and melted butter.
7. Sprinkle topping over apples and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
8. Cool before cutting into bars.
Storage
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
Reheating
Reheat bars in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10 minutes or until warmed through.
