Traditional Tomato Soup

A delightful and comforting traditional tomato soup recipe perfect for all seasons, crafted with ripe tomatoes and aromatic herbs to soothe and warm the soul.

Ingredients

3 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 lbs ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped
2 cups chicken broth
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft and translucent.
3. Stir in chopped tomatoes, cook for 5-7 minutes until they begin to break down.
4. Add chicken broth, sugar, salt, and pepper.
5. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
6. Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.
7. Stir in heavy cream and chopped basil, simmer for another 5 minutes.
8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat gently on the stove over medium heat, stirring occasionally until heated through.
