Traditional Thumbprint Cookies
These delightful thumbprint cookies offer a buttery, crumbly texture with a sweet jam center, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup fruit preserves or jam
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Stir in the vanilla extract, followed by the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
5. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
6. Fill each indentation with a small amount of jam or fruit preserves.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Storage
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
