Traditional Sweet Potato Casserole

Ingredients
4 lbs sweet potatoes
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup whole milk
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, then boil them in a large pot of water until tender, about 20 minutes.
3. Drain the sweet potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
4. Stir in the melted butter, milk, 1 cup of brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
5. Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
6. In a separate bowl, combine pecans, flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
7. Sprinkle the pecan mixture evenly over the sweet potato layer.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crisp.
Storage
Store cooled casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through.
