Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 lb spaghetti
Salt, to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
2. Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
4. Remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, add onion and cook until translucent.
5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
6. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
7. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
8. Serve meatballs and sauce over spaghetti, garnished with Parmesan cheese and basil leaves.
Storage
Store leftover spaghetti and meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat spaghetti and meatballs in a saucepan over medium heat until heated through, or in a microwave-safe dish in the microwave.
