Traditional Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork

Ingredients
4 lbs pork shoulder roast
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 large onions, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
2. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the pork shoulder.
3. Place onions and garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
4. Place the pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic.
5. In a separate bowl, mix apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard.
6. Pour the liquid mixture over the pork.
7. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
8. Once done, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred with two forks, discarding any excess fat.
9. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix well with the juices.
10. Serve warm, on buns or with your favorite sides.
Storage
Store leftover pulled pork in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Reheating
Reheat in the microwave or in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, adding a splash of chicken broth if necessary to maintain moisture.
