Traditional Slow Cooked Ham

Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 8 lbs)
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup honey
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup water

Instructions

1. Unwrap the ham and dab it dry with a paper towel.
2. Place the ham flat-side down in the slow cooker.
3. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and nutmeg until well combined.
4. Pour the mixture over the ham, ensuring it covers all areas.
5. Add butter and water to the slow cooker, surrounding the ham.
6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until tender, basting occasionally.
7. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before carving.

Storage

Store leftover ham in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheating

Reheat slices of ham in the microwave or in a preheated oven at 325°F until warmed through.
