Traditional Savory Meatloaf

A quintessential American dish, this Traditional Savory Meatloaf combines ground beef, breadcrumbs, and spices for a hearty meal that evokes comfort and warmth.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
3. Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
4. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Spread the mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
6. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Storage

Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat slices in a microwave-safe dish in the microwave for 1-2 minutes until warmed through.
