Traditional Salsa

Ingredients

2 lbs fresh tomatoes, diced
1 cup red onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 jalapeños, seeded and minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 lime)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

1. Wash and dice the tomatoes, removing seeds if desired.
2. Finely chop the red onion and cilantro.
3. Mince the jalapeños and garlic.
4. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
5. Add lime juice, salt, black pepper, and sugar.
6. Mix well until combined.
7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Storage

Store salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Reheating

Remove salsa from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes before serving to enhance flavors.
