Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/3 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
3. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.
5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges.
7. Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the scones are golden brown on top.
9. Allow scones to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Storage

Store scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, warm in a 300°F oven for 5-7 minutes or microwave for 10-15 seconds.
