Traditional Pumpkin Loaf

Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/4 cup water
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the pumpkin puree and water.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, stirring just until blended.
6. Fold in the walnuts if using.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Storage
Wrap the cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
Reheating
For best results, slice the bread and warm individual pieces in a toaster oven or microwave for a few seconds until heated through.
