Traditional Pulled Pork

Ingredients
4 lbs pork shoulder (Boston butt)
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup chicken broth
8 hamburger buns
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) or set your slow cooker to low.
2. In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the pork shoulder, ensuring to cover all sides.
4. Place the seasoned pork into a roasting pan or the slow cooker.
5. In a separate bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, apple juice, and chicken broth. Pour over the pork.
6. Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil or place the lid on the slow cooker and cook for 6-8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
7. Once cooked, remove the pork from the pan or slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes.
8. Using two forks, shred the pork, discarding any large pieces of fat.
9. Serve on hamburger buns with your favorite BBQ sauce.
Storage
Store any leftover pulled pork in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place the pulled pork in a microwave-safe dish and cover. Microwave on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, reheat in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
