Traditional Italian Lasagna
A savory dish layered with rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and melted cheese, this lasagna is a quintessential Italian comfort food perfect for any pasta lover.

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
9 lasagna noodles
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 egg
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until soft.
3. Add ground beef and pork, cook until browned.
4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg and a pinch of salt.
7. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, then a layer of noodles, followed by a layer of ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
8. Repeat layers, finishing with a top layer of noodles and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
10. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes.
