Traditional Italian Bolognese Sauce
An authentic Italian Bolognese sauce made with a rich blend of beef, pork, and aromatic vegetables, perfect for a hearty pasta dish.

Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup whole milk
1 cup dry white wine
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
2. Add ground beef and pork to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking the meat into small pieces, about 10 minutes.
3. Pour in the milk and simmer until it has evaporated, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
4. Add white wine, and let it simmer until mostly reduced, about 5 minutes.
5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and nutmeg. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
7. Stir in fresh basil and parsley before serving.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Reheating
Reheat gently on the stovetop over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
