Traditional Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups buttermilk

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
3. Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring until a soft dough forms.
4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for a minute.
5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a lightly floured baking sheet.
6. With a sharp knife, score a deep cross into the top of the loaf.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
8. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Storage
