Traditional Hungarian Goulash Soup

A hearty and flavorful Hungarian soup that combines tender beef, vegetables, and aromatic spices for a warming meal.

Ingredients

2 lbs beef chuck, cubed
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp sweet paprika
1 tsp caraway seeds
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 bell pepper, diced
3 carrots, sliced
2 potatoes, cubed
8 cups beef broth
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
3. Stir in beef cubes and brown on all sides.
4. Add paprika, caraway seeds, and tomato paste, stirring well.
5. Incorporate bell pepper, carrots, and potatoes.
6. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil.
7. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
8. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat gently on the stove over medium heat until heated through, or microwave on medium power.
