Traditional French Toast Bake

Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread (about 14 oz)
6 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Powdered sugar, for serving
Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Slice brioche bread into 1-inch cubes and place in the prepared baking dish.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down slightly to ensure all cubes absorb the mixture.
5. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving with powdered sugar and maple syrup.

Storage

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat individual servings in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or until warmed through.
