Prep time: 15 minutesCook time: 35 minutesServes: 6
Ingredients
9-inch pie crust
4 oz bacon (sliced into small strips)
1 cup Gruyère cheese (grated)
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan, trimming any excess dough. Line with parchment paper and fill with pie weights. Blind bake for 15 minutes, then remove weights and parchment and bake for another 5 minutes until lightly golden.
3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
5. Spread the cooked bacon evenly over the baked crust, followed by the grated Gruyère cheese.
6. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the bacon and cheese in the crust.
7. Bake the quiche for 30-35 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden.
8. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Storage
Store leftover quiche in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat slices in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
